• Artist Statement

In my multidisciplinary practice, I seek to elevate the act of form-building into a spiritual encounter. It is in moments of profound absorption, of losing myself in something immense and transcendent, that I touch the universal. The enigmatic magic of material and process—the dance between control and its absence—reveals an important and enduring truth.

While my foundation lies in European artistic and cultural traditions, my creative imagination has, for the past 25 years, been deeply nourished by Asian and African cultures. Recently, I've felt a particular pull towards the integral role art plays in traditional African societies, especially the sculpture of the Dogon people of West Africa. Their work beautifully articulates a belief in the profound interconnectedness of the natural world and the human spirit. My artistic aspiration is not the isolated discovery of a personal muse, as in the European myth of Pygmalion, but a connection to what it means to be alive and to exist within the natural world and one’s human community.
